Expats should be driving force of investment, Morocco-Belgium chamber of commerce
Moroccan expatriates should be the driving force of investment in their country of origin, said Chairman of the Morocco-Belgium chamber of commerce, Lotfi Chelbat.
It is high time the expatriates gave up the money transfer logic to play the role of project holders in the cultural, economic and social fields, said Chelbat, who is also general commissioner of SMABXL, Morocco's major property development fair in Europe.
Morocco is today a large project site where the expatriates can play a leading role in the development and modernization process underway in the country, he told MAP on the eve of the 3rd SMABXL real estate fair, which will kick off Friday in Brussels.
SMABXL is meant to attract people from Europe to acquire and invest in Moroccan real estate sector, he said, highlighting the promising prospects of real estate in Morocco "which adapts to international changes."
The fair, which presents each year a Moroccan region, focuses in 2009 on the eastern region.
SMABXL also showcases the efforts made to push forward the regionalisation process, which Morocco has erected as a driving force of development and an efficient tool to fight disparities between regions, he said.
The three-day fair would provide the opportunity to present to the visitors the range of investment offers in real estate in the North African country.
The 3rd SMABXL will discuss topics as "The transmission of the property heritage", "Eastern Morocco and Europe," "The architectural diversity in today’s Morocco" and "property investment in Morocco".
