New gas discoveries in Gharb region, ONHYM
The State-owned National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mining (ONHYM) announced on Wednesday the discovery of two gas accumulations in the northern region of Gharb in the Sebou permit.
These accumulations, ranging in thickness from 2 to 3.3 meters, were discovered in the CGD10 exploration well drillings performed, in the Sebou permit, with its partner Circle Oil Maroc Limited subsidiary of Irish oil-exploration company Circle Oil Plc, ONHYM said in a statement.
The accumulation tested gas at a sustained rate of 110,000 cubic meters a day according to short-term study conducted by the Irish oil company. A full long-term technical evaluation of all the results is under way, ONHYM said.
Circle Oil Morocco started, under the Sebou Onshore oil agreement it signed with ONHYM, the first of six drilling rigs in September 2008. These operations aim to assess the anomalies detected by 3D seismic studies conducted by the end of 2007.
