Rabat - The producer price index for July 2008 edged 2.4% compared to June on growth of the secondary and extraction sector and the stagnation of the power and water production and distribution.
According to the monthly price survey of the Higher Commission for Planning (HCP), the rise is due to the progression of the sections of "oil refinery", "metallurgy", "chemical industry", "rubber and plastic industry" and "food industries," which grew respectively 5.8%, 2.3%, 1.6%, 1.1% and 0.6%.
In extraction industries, the HCP noted that prices edged 0.8% mainly on the 1.2% growth of the "other extraction industries" product prices.
