King lays foundation stone of youth hostel, center for fishermen's families
King Mohammed VI laid, Friday in the northern city of Fnideq, the foundation stone of a hostel for youth and a center for supporting fishermen's families in the city.
Built on an area of 1,000 square meters, the hostel is expected to accommodate 100 children and enable them to pursue their studies in better conditions. The facility, worth about MAD 3 mln ($387,000), is financed by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity.
As to the center for supporting fishermen's families, it will provide literacy courses and training in local income-generating professions for the wives of fishermen.
The 360-square meter center will be composed, inter alia, of a number of vocational training workshops (in culinary arts and pastry-making, dressmaking, embroidery and knitting, hairdressing,…) as well as a day-nursery and an IT room.
The cost, estimated at MAD 2.5mln ($322,000), is to be funded by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity.
The king also received details on a boarding school, to be built by the Foundation. The MAD 2.1mln ($271,000) project aims to fight school drop-out among rural girls and will benefit some 60 girls.
