King inaugurates girls' center, female qualification center northeast
King Mohammed VI on Friday inaugurated a girls' center and a female qualification center in the town of Taza (320km northeast of Rabat).
With an accommodation capacity of 96 beds, the girls' center will enable school female pupils from underprivileged rural families to pursue their education by offering them accommodation and educational support.
The three-storey building includes 14 rooms, and has required MAD 2.5mln (about $316,000), which was fully provided by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity.
The king subsequently enquired about the services offered by the female qualification center of Taza. He was also provided with information about the center built by the Foundation in the rural commune of Bni Lent.
Both centers are meant to chip in the social development of the region, and will provide 60 women undergoing a difficult situation with training on income-generating activities linked to the hotel industry.
The centers, which cost $380,000 provided by the Foundation, also offer literacy, orientation and medical and legal awareness raising services.
The monarch also visited a newly developed boys’ center, whose capacity was boosted to 256 beds, thanks to funds amounting to over $316,000.
