Arab, Latin American states have 'significant cultural, political convergence', Moroccan official
Moroccan Communication Minister, Khalid Naciri, underlined the "significant cultural and political convergence" between Arab and Latin American countries, on the fringes of the 2nd meeting of the Arab and Latin American Culture ministers, held on May 20-21 in Rio de Janeiro.
Underlining the absence of divergent approaches between these countries, Naciri said the meeting "stressed the need to promote exchange and cultural cooperation" between both regions.
The minister also made a "positive evaluation" of the meeting, which adopted the Communiqué of Rio and a joint action plan on the cultural field.
Regarding the future Institute for Studies and Research on Latin America, which will be based in Tangiers, Naciri said this institution will contribute to the development of a joint action of Arab and Latin-American countries. This project "has enjoyed a wide and shared appreciation of all delegations" from both regions, he said.
The forthcoming meeting of the Arab and Latin American Culture ministers will take place in Jordan.
