Mission of Moroccan medical delegation to Gaza, 'great success'
The mission of the Moroccan medical delegation to Gaza was a "great success", Coordinator of the Moroccan commission of health professionals, Adelaziz Ghali said on Sunday.
The Moroccan medical delegation achieved its goals, and was warmly welcomed by the Palestinian people and officials, who both expressed their pride in the particular concern shown by King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan government and people for Palestine, Ghali said here Sunday upon the delegation's return from Gaza.
During its two-week mission in Gaza, the delegation treated a daily overage of 200 Palestinians, victims of the Israeli aggression, he said.
In order to meet the medical needs of the population in the Gaza Strip, the delegation, made up of doctors, pharmacists and nurses, was split into four groups that were dispatched to Beit Lahia, Jabalia, Khan Younes and Oum Nasr where they provided medicare to the wounded, he said.
The Moroccan physicians also seized the opportunity to transfer their expertise to Palestinian doctors, who have been deprived, for more than 10 years, from training abroad, he underlined.
Since the beginning of the Israeli offensive against Gaza, Morocco has taken several measures to assist the inhabitants of the stricken area. It airlifted hundreds of tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza, offered to receive 200 injured Palestinians in its hospitals, and opened a special banking account to collect donations for the bereaved Palestinians.
