Morocco sets fact-finding committee on DTP vaccines
The Health ministry has set a fact-finding committee to investigate media information about babies suffering from health problems as they received DTP shots.
The committee includes a team of experts and technicians in vaccination from the Health ministry and international organizations mainly the World Health Organization (WHO), a press release of the ministry said, adding that instructions were given to provide healthcare to reported cases.
Relying on the results of the preliminary investigation, the ministry seeks to reassure the public opinion and the babies' families about the validity of vaccines administered in the Moroccan health centers, reiterating its confidence about the competence of the medical and paramedical staff in charge of the national vaccination program.
Earlier this month, several babies were said to have suffered from severe infections as they were shot by the DTP vaccine in Casablanca.
The DTP is dispensed at the 4th, 10th and 14th week for immunization against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis.
