Princess Lalla Salma highlights importance of cooperation to fight cancer
Princess Lalla Salma, chairwoman of the Lalla Salma Association to Fight Cancer (ALSC), highlighted, here on Tuesday, the importance of cooperation and concerted efforts to fight cancer.
The princess, spouse of king Mohammed VI of Morocco, said in an address during a party organised by Moroccan women in the Saudi capital on the sidelines of the princess's visit to Saudi Arabia, the ALSC is willing to cooperate with Saudi associations and oganisations to "combat cancer that knows no borders."
"Our cooperation is not only an effective mechanism to pool efforts, but is also deemed a virtue dictated by the teachings of our pristine religion and the requirements of our Arab brotherhood," she said, adding that "cooperation is a vital necessity when it comes to the fight against cancer."
"As Muslim women and mothers, who believe in the precepts of our tolerant religion related to brotherly and human solidarity, we are in a position to reach out to others, particularly the needy," she added.
The princess commended the actions made by the Saudi association SANAD to support children with cancer, under the sponsorship of king Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al Saud, noting that her visit enabled her to be acquainted with the laudable efforts made by princess Adila bint Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and civil society players to uphold social causes.
The princess, also a WHO goodwill ambassador, paid tribute to the Saudi woman "who has been making steady and remarkable efforts in all areas relating to the family and charity and social actions."
She said the ALSC has been involved in the national efforts aimed at fighting cancer, adding that the association “has adopted a partnership approach with public and private bodies” to achieve its objectives.
