Moroccan-Italian parliamentary group hails autonomy proposal
The newly formed Moroccan-Italian parliamentary group praised, Thursday in Rome, Morocco's proposal to grant broad autonomy to its southern provinces, known as the Sahara.
This proposal, described as serious and credible by the U.N. Security Council, constitutes the ideal solution to this regional conflict, said the parliamentary group in a statement.
The group also expressed support for the various projects initiated by the Kingdom in several fields, including gender equality, the expansion of the scope of freedoms, freedom of expression, respect of human rights and political pluralism.
The Parliamentary group also hailed the deep political, economic and social reforms undertaken in Morocco, stressing that these reforms have earned the country respect of the international community, as well as an Advanced Status with the European Union.
