Rabat - The statement made by US President Barack Obama in Cairo on Morocco shows the sound friendship ties binding the United States of America to the Kingdom of Morocco, Communication Minister, Government Spokesman, Khalid Naciri said here on Thursday.

"The first nation to recognize my country was Morocco," Obama said in his first outreach speech to the Arab and Muslim world at the University of Cairo.

"The fact that the President of the United States, in his key speech to the Arab and Muslim world, refers to this important historical fact, consolidates our friendship ties with the United States," Naciri told reporters after the cabinet meeting.

President Obama also reiterated, in his speech, the strategic option of the building of two States in the Middle East in order to solve the Palestinian problem, at a time when the Israeli government rejects the establishment of a Palestinian state.

This statement has cleared up any doubts, Naciri said, voicing hope that Israel will get the message.
