PM expresses 'deep pride' in King's trust

Moroccan Premier, Abbass El Fassi, on Sunday expressed deep pride in the trust king Mohammed VI placed in him along with the government to pursue the efforts to lead the reforms and large-scale projects and serve the higher interests of Morocco.

In a statement to Moroccan TV station "Al-Aoula", el Fassi deemed the renewal of trust as a "message sent not only to the Prime Minister and Government but also the Moroccan political spectrum and indirectly the Moroccan people."

King Mohammed VI on Saturday made a phone call, from his residence in Paris, to the PM to renew his trust in him and in the government, following the decision of the Modernity and Authenticity Party (PAM) to withdraw from government.

The Premier said "the call touched mainly on the issue of the upcoming local elections and the renewal of the royal trust in the Prime Minister and in the government."

He added that the monarch stressed on the "absolute neutrality of the authorities" so that elections could be held in "total transparency," as they are of paramount importance in the daily life of citizens and their economic, social and cultural future.

El Fassi, who reaffirmed the government will to follow the king's instructions, said the issue of elections has been largely debated within the government. "Sufficient directions have been issued concerning the rigorous implementation of the law,” he said.
