Road accident kills two east
Two people were killed and four seriously injured in a road accident that occurred Wednesday near El Aioun (eastern province of Taourirt).
According to local authorities, the accident took place when a car collided head-on with a truck.
Following this accident, King Mohammed VI of Morocco addressed a message of condolences and compassion to the families of the dead and the wounded. He also decided to pay for the hospitalization costs of the victims.
On August 19, three people were killed and three were critically injured in a road accident that occurred on the motorway between Tangiers and Assilah.
Road accidents, referred to in Morocco as the "war of roads", claim thousands of lives each year. Besides an average daily toll of 10 victims, road accidents in Morocco cost the State about $ 1.2 bln a year, that is 2.5% of the GDP, according to official figures.
