Rabat - A NASA scientific mission that includes six Moroccan experts has started a visit to Morocco aimed to integrate Moroccan researchers into the global climate change initiative, "Space Weather".

"Morocco benefits from an excellent geographical location according to the assessment of spatial climate, so we are happy to be here and establish collaboration ties with Moroccan researchers," NASA's "Space Weather" Director in Maryland, Joseph Theodore told Moroccan TV Channel "Al Oula" on Tuesday.

"We can share scientific data with Moroccan university and researchers and enable them to come to the U.S., or be part of research teams with NASA, said Kamal Oudghiri, Project manager at NASA in Los Angeles.

For his part, Permanent Secretary of the Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology underlined that the visit of the NASA delegation aims to strengthen the Moroccan scientific potential, and reinforce partnership with American researchers.

Space Weather aims to include Morocco in the ongoing scientific studies concerning the impacts of solar disturbances on the telecommunication network, GPS network, and the navigation instruments.

For the Moroccan part, this initiative will allow the north African country to benefit from the existing knowledge on the use of around fifteen measuring instruments.
