Arab Champions League: Wydad Casablanca through to semifinal
Moroccan soccer team Wydad Casablanca qualified for the semifinal of the Arab Champions League after a remarkable victory, Saturday, over Al-Wihdat (Jordan) 4-0 in the second leg of the quarter finals.
The Moroccan team were brimming with confidence to overcome the 1-2 result in the first leg. They managed as early as the 4th minute into the first half to open the score through striker Mustapha Bidodane.
Eleven minutes later, midfielder Rafik Abdessamad scored the second goal, and came back to broaden the score for Baddou Zaki's team in the 77th minute.
The fourth goal was scored by Jordanian Mâan Rached in his team's own net in the 54th minute.
The Moroccan team, runner-up of last year’s competition, will play Tunisia’s CS Sfax in the period April 11-13 in Tunisia. The return game is expected in the period April 24-26 in Casablanca.
The two other semi-finalist teams are Algeria’s ES Sétif, twice title holder and Tunisian Espérance Sportive de Tunis.
